I think whats happened nowadays, is that the fake nerds who liked to cheeze and stack teams back in the days, have slowly become community managers and devs in these games. In other words if you go into practice mode and do a chain of unblockable hits on an aired and grounded opponent, its not considered a combo, even though in reality it is. I think the thing that makes juggling seem so fake and cheezy, is that the game doesn't even consider it an official combo.
